Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Fighters Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.

This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team knows exactly where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • However, their position as important members in House Halovar could assist the team reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This leaves them few options but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.

Future Episodes

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.

Audiences can expect learning which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
